    Indy's Back!

Today is the day!  The Indiana Jones film I never imagined would be made opens in theatres today.

Rarely do I venture into a theatre for a file (just wait for DVD release) but I think Indy warrants the $15 to $20 per person expenditure.  Click the video below to play the trailer.  Enjoy!

    Today's Headlines at the Newseum

    Wsj

Have you heard about the Newseum in Washington D.C.?  The News Museum is an entire museum about  news.  I can't wait to visit on my next trip to the District but until then we can all enjoy a great feature on their website.

The Newseum's website provides access to the front page of over 600 newspapers from across the world in .pdf format.  For a news junkie like me this is great.  This evening I downloaded and customized an automator script from TUAW so that my headlines will be automatically downloaded each day, combined into a single .pdf file and delivered to my desktop.  The script will also rename each file with the date and save a copy in a folder for me.  I feel an art project coming on!

    Thinking of Paris...

Paris_2 So today I was reviewing old photos from vacations and weekends away to pull together a coffee table book and ran across photos from almost 2 years ago in Paris.

Paris is one of my most favorite cities in the world and last year was the first year I didn't visit in almost 10 years.  I miss this city so much!

A big part of not traveling abroad last year was the weak dollar as well as concern for the economy but I think I'll have to find a way to go this year.  I typically like a posh hotel with all of the amentities but could definitely enjoy 'The  City of Lights' on a budget if I went with more economical accommodation.  Food and transportation are always a small fraction of my expenses so I will just have to find a way to reduce the shopping budget!

    Issuu documents

I'm a podcast junkie listening to an average of 10 - 15 podcasts a day.  One of my favorites is MacBreak Weekly.  Chock full of the latest Mac news and hot new applications, I look forward to the "picks" at the end of each episode.

A few weeks ago Issuu was one of those picks and I just got around to checking out the website tonight.  I love this tool and site!  The site allows you to upload our multi-page documents into a slick looking online magazine you can publish on your site or as a standalone document.  I will definitly use this tool in the future.

The document at the top of the page is a music journal from their site.

    Photoshop Express

    Picture_2_5

The Photoshop Express Beta opened to users yesterday and I signed up immediately!  I know that there are many popular photo sharing sites out there (Flickr, Picassa, etc.) but this one is different because it is run by the maker of the number one photo editing software out there.  If you are a serious photographer you will still want Adobe's full version of Photoshop but this online version of the editor works pretty well.  My only issue was the time it takes to save the changes back to their database.  All of the photos editted must be uploaded to Adobe's website first.  While they are  only
supporting a few limited file types, it is a step in the right direction.

    Give it a try!

    Back to work!

Wow!  After a full day of travel and a fabulous weekend, it's time to get back to work tomorrow.  How interesting that someone would send me the piece below.  This is just a reminder that it is so important to stay true to yourself and to always focus on working towards your ultimate goal in life.

    Enjoy!

    Workaholics

A workaholic lives on fear.  It's fear that drives him to show up all the time.  The best defense, apparently, is a good attendance record.

A new class of jobs (and workers) is creating a different sort of worker, though.  This is the person who works out of passion and curiosity, not fear.

The passionate worker doesn't show up because she's afraid of getting in trouble, she shows up because it's a hobby that pays.  The passionate worker is busy blogging on vacation...because posting that thought and seeing the feedback it generates is actually more fun than sitting on the beach for another hour.  The passionate worker tweaks a site design after dinner because, hey, it's a lot more fun than watching TV.

It was hard to image someone being passionate about mining coal or scrubbing dishes.  But the new face of work, at least for some people, opens up the possibility that work is the thing (much of the time) that you'd most like to do.  Designing jobs like that is obviously smart.  Finding one is brilliant.

    This week's Running Goal...Check!

3.49 miles today completes (and actually exceeds) this weeks running goal. Next week is 20 miles and since I just got my Nike+iPod sensor working today, I actually need an additional 2 miles tomorrow to meet my goal of 25 miles for the Month of March on the Nike site.

    Yeah Me!
